One Community

The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention

Newton Abbot Rugby Club would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our partners, sponsors, and community members who have supported us through the most challenging period in our recent history.

As a club, our impact goes far beyond rugby. We are a community hub driven by our #OneCommunity ethos, dedicated to inclusivity, support, and well-being. Over the past year, we have witnessed incredible acts of kindness and generosity from our fantastic community.

Our Commitment to the Community

  • Junior & Senior Rugby Development: We are home to over 500 junior players (boys and girls) who train and play regularly, making us the largest club in Devon. Our 120+ senior players (men and women) continue to represent the club with pride. We also provide coaching and refereeing qualifications for aspiring young players.
  • Diverse Sporting Opportunities: Our facilities are home to Devon Sharks Rugby League Club, Newton Brewers Baseball Club, and provide training space for local businesses, police units, and emergency services.
  • Supporting Local Families: In alignment with Marcus Rashford’s campaign, we provided free school meals and received overwhelming support from the community, enabling us to distribute Christmas hampers to over 70 families. We continue to supply seasonal “Feed the Family” hampers at no cost to families in need.
  • Mental Health & Well-being Initiatives: We proudly host Andy’s Man Club at our headquarters, providing a vital space for mental health support. Additionally, we support women’s well-being projects, ManDown, the Bro Project, and other local charities.
  • Community Engagement & Events: We have provided facilities for NHS providers, local schools, and the Devon County Council Families Early Help Group. We also host events such as the Dartmoor Classic Cycle Event, county-wide rugby festivals, and local business excellence awards.
  • Youth & School Outreach: We run rugby sessions in primary and secondary schools, host girls-only rugby events, and collaborate with Active Devon on holiday activity programs. We also offer “Train Like a Chief” holiday camps in partnership with Exeter Community Chiefs.
  • A Space for Everyone: Whether it’s offering a safe space for skill development, running sports badge sessions for local cubs and girl guides, or providing venues for weddings, community meetings, and training sessions, our club is committed to serving Newton Abbot and beyond.

None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of our members, volunteers, and commercial partners. Together, we continue to make a meaningful difference.
