Newton Abbot Ladies kept their momentum building this season with another win on Sunday. Penryn travelled to Newton with a full squad ready to play in a physical contest.
The game started off with both teams attacking the breakdown leading to some big turnovers before Sammie Harris broke away from her own half to put the ball down under the posts.
After some sustained pressure Penryn answered back with a try of their own, bringing the score to 7-7. Newton answered back brilliantly, quickly recovering the ball and building phases in Penryn’s half before Meg Heath crossed the line to end the first half 14-7.
Second half saw Newton under some pressure on their own try line, but some brilliant defence kept the score at 14-7 long enough to clear their lines before Sammie Harris made another break to bring the score to 21-7. From there one last sustained attack by Newton Abbot meant the score finished 26-7.
A solid performance by Newton Abbot against some tough competition from Penryn, forwards across the board but the standout performance for forward of the match was Georgia Elizabeth. Back of the game was Beth Nichols with an honorable mention to Sammie Harris following her two brilliant solo tries.
