Senior Team Managers
27th November 2024Newton Abbot Rugby Club Senior Rugby Team Manager Newton Abbot Rugby Club seeks senior team managers to support our senior men’s or women’s rugby…
The U9’s took two teams to the Trevor Ward festival in Paignton today for our first, competitive scoring tournament in contact, against Paignton, Torquay and Plymouth.
When the kids realised it was a scoring and points format there was much excitement!
Started off with Newton A v Newton B – but the teams were split as equally as we could and that’s how it played out. The game finished 4 tries all and those were the only points our teams would drop all day, to both finish the day unbeaten in our first mini local derby.
We finished the day joint 1st.
We are so proud of every single one of them!!
Some of the kids who don’t enjoy tackling were tackling harder then ever before as the team mentality was very strong today!
Wet, cold and filthy, but always fought with real camaraderie, organising their own lines and finding those final passes time after time.
We couldn’t pick a player of the day today, as it could have gone to every single one of them.
A few special mentions to some of our team members, Aston, Kian and Matias for their numerous massive tackles, and I mean massive, Joe who almost got a hatrick in one game until I subbed him off, he was on fire all day,- sorry Joe, Tom the tank who dragged 4 players 5 meters and then offloaded it out wide for an easy try, Issy who kept getting pinched by a lad, and then ended him in a monster tackle…a particular high light for me as she was a bit upset by it.
If that’s a sign of what’s to come it’s very exciting.
To top it off we got some lovely comments from other coaches and parents telling us how well drilled the teams were and how they played the game in the right spirit!! As much as we think we have a great set of kids, it’s always nice to receive praise from fresh eyes.
Thanks to all our parents who support us and the kids every week rain or shine!
