A competitive game at North Petherton for the Newton Abbot Ladies on Sunday as they beat North Petherton by 24-10.
A quick break early in the game saw North Petherton take the lead by 5-0 before Newton Abbot retook the lead through a runaway try scored by Meg Heath to bring the score back to 7-5. From here despite injuries meaning several players were forced to play out of position, the team adapted well and an excellent forwards try was scored by Heather Tomlinson for a total of 14-5.
An early try in the second half saw North Petherton back within one score at 14-10 for a tense second half. However, with 10 minutes left further tries were scored by a fantastic solo effort from Sammie Harris followed by Alia McCarthy finishing of from a good passing play brought the final score to 24-10.
Following some great individual carries and defensive work the forward of the match was Liv Northmore. Back of the game was Sammie Harris after some strong kicking as well as great running.
